My Experience Jan 17, 2019

I've been programming and designing since 2003. That passion drove me to pursue an education in Communication & Multimedia Design at Avans University of Applied Sciences. After successfully wrapping up my education, I started working at FileLinx as a Front End Developer / User Interface Designer. In 2017 I also became Development Team Lead. In October 2018 I started working at Uptrends as a Software Developer.

IT-experience

2018 - current    Software developer at Uptrends

As a Software Developer at Uptrends, my job is to keep the product running smoothly and to implement new features. I'm expanding my horizons to work backend, too, as to gain a thourough understanding of software development, and I am using my frontend and design experience to take the Uptrends products to the next level.

2017    Development team lead at FileLinx

As Development team lead I was responsible for all development projects of FileLinx. This includes planning, quality control, and coaching of team members. I was also partly responsible for the HR policy of the team. For other departments of the organization I was the first point of contact for planning and project overarching questions.

2014    Senior developer at Tensing International (outsourced)

In the final quarter of 2014 I was outsourced from FileLinx to Tensing as a senior developer for a JavaScript-based mobile application. Within the Tensing team I labored as a developer and sparring partner for architectural questions. Also, based on my input and under my supervision, a rebrand of the application was implemented: an improved design, based on modern smartphones.

2011 - 2018    Frontend developer / user interface designer at FileLinx

At FileLinx my first responsibility was the user interface of the serveral applications built within the company. Besides that I specialized in developing these interfaces. My primary focus was to translate the abstract or technical ideas within the company to designs, specs, and ultimately functioning interfaces that users can easily use and comprehend.

2009    Developer at Ranj Serious Games (internship)

During my Communication & Multimedia Design studies I interned at Ranj Serious Games. This is where I got to know actual product work and improved on my knowledge of programming in a team. When my internship ended, I remained at Ranj for several months on their request to work on a couple of projects.

Projects

2018    My FBN

FBN wanted to provide a portal for its customers where their courses and educations could be viewed and purchased. The courses, subscriptions, products and packages could have discount rules. All information available in the portal was to be managed in the FileLinx application, and disclosed to the portal via its REST API. That way the organisations' business processes could all happen in FileLinx, without the need of a separate backoffice.

My role: I was the project lead in this project. Besides that, I was responsible for the entire frontend - from interface design and user experience to technical realisation and quality control.

Techniques: .NET C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, VueJS, SASS, Webpack.

2017    FileLinx IFS

The FileLinx software is an incredibly powerful platform where all sorts of solutions can be implemented by consultants. Over the course of more than 10 years, this application was built out from an application with model-based forms to a full-grown SaaS platform with workflows, dashboards and process management. The subject of the IFS project was to create a new Backoffice for the FileLinx platform. In this portal, end users will interact with all information the system contains - viewing, editing, creating and using it in their processes. Because of the many modern demands on technique, security and usability, it was decided to rebuild the application entirely.

My role: I was responsible for the entire frontend - from interface design and user experience to technical realisation and quality control.

Techniques: .NET C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, KnockoutJS, SASS.

2015    Optitrade Online    read the case study

Subject of this project was a B2B-webshop with admin portal. The existing webshop was functioning, but hadn't aged very gracefully and using it had its challenges. In this project, the webshop and its admin portal were stripped to the bone and rebuilt in a modern and user friendly way.

My role: I was responsible for the entire frontend - from interface design and user experience to technical realisation and quality control.

Techniques: .NET C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, KnockoutJS, SASS.

2014    FMP 360

This workflow application allows field employees to receive orders, to be executed on location, from the office planners. Also, the application synchronizes data for offline use.

My role: As a senior developer I joined this project to improve the user interface and performance of the application.

Techniques: JavaScript, dust.js, Cordova, PHP.

2014    CeBeS

Many opticians and hearing care professionals purchase their wares via a central organization. CeBes allows them to provide insight on all related finance based data. Also, the system provides an advanced bonus system based on tiered volume discounts.

My role: As designer and frontend developer lead, my focus was the usability and (implementation of the) design of the application.

Techniques: .NET C# aspx pages, enriched with JavaScript.

2013    FileLinx 2.9.x

FileLinx's automation platform is model based, which allows it to fit the customers requests snugly. This includes workflows, tasks and importing / exporting data.

My role: As designer and frontend developer lead, my focus was on improving the usability and design of the existing application.

Techniques: .NET C# aspx pages, enriched with JavaScript.

2012    Icodis+

Icodis+ is a web based software platform that enables opticiens and hearing care professionals to process their invoices with health insurers. Icodis+ has unique capabilities to predict the maximum declarable health care amount for customers.

My role: As designer I focused on usability and design of the application. As frontend developer I joined in the effort of translating these designs to a fully functioning application.

Techniques: .NET C# aspx pages, enriched with JavaScript.
